A Special tony party for

the ENTIRE THEATRE COMMUNITY.

On June 11, 2014, the Tony Awards announced that the awards for Best Sound Design of a Play and Best Sound Design of a Musical would be eliminated from the list of eligible categories. The response in the theatre community was immediate and intense: in just a few short weeks, more than 32,000 people signed an online petition asking that the decision be reversed.

Soon after, an idea was formed. If the Tony Awards weren't able to celebrate the achievements by sound designers on Broadway this year, then it's up to sound designers to celebrate themselves. It's time for a party.

At first, it was going to be a party only for the theatre sound community. But then we realized that there were so many others who not only had lent their support to theatre sound designers, but were also not being recognized with awards either. So, we opened up the idea of this party to include all theatre professionals, including unrecognized contributors to the theatrical process: projection designers, fight directors, stage managers, scenic artists, music directors, wig designers, prop designers and many others. In short, our collaborators.

This is The Collaborator Party.

Following our five years of successful sold out parties (and two years of quarantine), The Collaborator Party will return for 2022!

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, we will be taking over a venue in Manhattan from 7:00pm-11pm. The party is free to attend, as long as you sign up in advance. There will be a cash bar, food for sale, fun, surprises, fellowship, and let’s face it, we’re probably going to end up watching the Tony Awards on TV.

It's gonna be like no other party you've ever seen and we want you to be there.

Click on the NYC button on the Home page to sign up for the main party, or click on the Satellite button to sign up for a party near you. Admission to all parties is free, but you must sign up in advance.

Dress code is first rehearsal, opening night optional. Masks are recommended, but not required. We are asking all guests to test for COVID on the day of the event.

We're looking forward to seeing you there.
